YWAM Los Angeles’ mission is to train servant leaders to disciple the nations.
In a small office in Pasadena, California, which doubled as his bedroom, Loren Cunningham founded Youth With A Mission in 1960. God gave Loren a simple, yet focused strategy at first. Youth from local churches in various cities nationwide would be mobilized in citywide outreaches to reach the lost for Christ. Over the next decade, YWAM launched Summer of Service programs that sent teams of young people on one week outreaches called “Domestic Crusades” to targeted cities. From these outreaches, the first Discipleship Training School (DTS) was born in 1976 and located in Sunland, California, led by John Dawson.
